Visual Studio Code Xamarin



Xamarin can be installed as part of a new Visual Studio 2019 installation, with the following steps: Download Visual Studio 2019 Community, Visual Studio Professional, or Visual Studio Enterprise from the Visual Studio page (download links are provided at the bottom). Double-click the downloaded package to start installation. Visual Studio Code is free and available on your favorite platform - Linux, macOS, and Windows. Download Visual Studio Code to experience a redefined code editor, optimized for building and debugging modern web and cloud applications. Upgraded xamarin forms nuget to latest and then added Xaml compilation attribute to the assembly on the forms portable project. Did not reproduce getAssembly but static code analysis errors with similar assembly. Now that we have Visual Studio 2019 and Xamarin installed let's get to work! When you launch Visual Studio 2019 you will have an option to create a new project. On Windows you can search for Xamarin.Forms or use the project types filter and select Mobile. We will want to select Mobile App (Xamarin.Forms). Visual Studio code cleanup will format your code and apply any code fixes as suggested by settings in the IDE or by the.editorconfig file in your project. Debugging Visual Studio is your one-stop-shop for building, deploying, and debugging apps on emulators, simulators, or directly on physical devices.

Installation

Xamarin can be installed as part of a new Visual Studio 2019 installation, with the following steps:

  1. Download Visual Studio 2019 Community, Visual Studio Professional, orVisual Studio Enterprise from theVisual Studio page (downloadlinks are provided at the bottom).

  2. Double-click the downloaded package to start installation.

  3. Select the Mobile development with .NET workload from theinstallation screen:

  4. When you are ready to begin Visual Studio 2019 installation, click theInstall button in the lower right-hand corner:

If Visual Studio 2019 is already installed, add Xamarin byre-running the Visual Studio 2019 installer to modify workloads (seeModify Visual Studiofor details). Next, follow the steps listed above to install Xamarin.

Let’s look at the code first, then we will go over it:

In the Component we create a simple form control so that we can get a stream of values via its valueChanges obserable.

We use debounceTime to only check every .5 seconds
