  • Citrix Blog Post Cookbook to Upgrade from Receiver 3.4 for Windows to Receiver 4.2.100 and Citrix Article CTX135933 Upgrading to Citrix Receiver for Windows contains step-by-step procedure to use Group Policy to uninstall Receiver Enterprise 3.4 and install/configure Workspace app or Receiver 4.x. Alright uninstalling Citrix Workspace seems to make it work. Can run the game now. Guess I try Citrix Workspace from Windows app store if that works too without causing issues with Unity as I do need Citrix Workspace for work.

    This article is intended for IT administrators. If you are an end-user, please contact your support desk to run the Receiver Cleanup Utility.
    Receiver cleanup utility is not required while upgrading to the Receiver for Windows 4.4 or newer. Receiver for Windows 4.4 or newer can upgrade from anyolder version of Receiver without the need of using the cleanup utility.

    Description

    Workspace

    The Receiver Clean-Up utility is designed to assist with the following scenarios:

    • When errors occur during upgrade from an earlier version of Receiver or Online Plug-in
    • When unexpected behavior or performance is experienced after upgrade from an earlier Receiver or Online Plug-in
    • If Receiver upgrade is not possible due to feature incompatibility and/or a clean uninstall is required
    • The Receiver Clean-Up Utility removes components, files, and registry values of Online Plug-in 11.x, 12.x, and Receiver for Windows 3.x, 4.x (Online Plugin-in 13.x, 14.x). This includes the Offline Plug-in component if installed and HDX RealTime Media Engine if installed.

    How to Use the Citrix Clean-Up Utility

    The Receiver Clean-Up Utility is a standalone executable file and does not require installation.

    Although the Receiver Clean-Up Utility will backup Receiver registry keys before deleting them, it is recommended to back up the registry before running this tool. Go to Microsoft article How to backup and restore the Registry in Windows for backing up the registry.

    Caution: Always back up the registry.

    1. Run the Receiver Clean-Up Utility with administrator privileges.
    2. Restart the machine when the utility finishes.

    Citrix Workspace Uninstall Utility

    Note: The Receiver Clean-Up Utility can be run in unattended mode if desired using the /silent command line option.

    C:/> ReceiverCleanupUtility.exe /silent

    ReceiverLogs folder is created in the location where the utility is run and tracks all uninstall actions and results.

    NOTE: In order to improve the Citrix Receiver experience, anonymous uninstall data will be sent to Citrix. To disable the collection of uninstall data, please use /disableCEIP command line parameter.

    Data Modified by Receiver Clean-Up Utility

    The utility terminates all Receiver processes prior to running the uninstall process. Refer to the ReadMe file included with the tool for a list of items that will be removed during the clean-up process.

    How to Undo the Changes Made by Receiver Clean-Up Utility

    The Receiver Clean-Up Utility creates a backup of all Citrix registry keys in the file ReceiverLogsRegBackup.reg before running any clean-up and deletion process.

    To undo the changes:

    1. Reinstall Receiver for Windows
    2. Import the RegBackup.reg file to restore settings and customizations in the registry.

    Uninstalling Receiver Clean-Up Utility

    Delete the downloaded executable and config.xml files from the current directory, and if desired delete the files in the ReceiverLogs folder.

    Prerequisites

    Required Security Permissions

    Read, write, and modify access permissions are required for the following:

    • Local machine registry (HKLM)
    • Local user registry (HKCU)
    • Default user profile on computer
    • %programfiles%citrix on 32-bit systems or %programfiles(x86)%citrix on 64-bit systems

    Known Issues

    The Receiver Clean-Up Utility does not support non-Administrator users with roaming profile.

    If Receiver is not installed at the default location, the Receiver Clean-Up Utility might not work properly.

    Under certain circumstances, uninstalling older versions of Receiver for Windows may leave some files behind on the computer and in the registry.This article can also be used as reference to completely clean a system after uninstalling a legacy ICA Client or Citrix Online Plug-in version.
    Note: If you plan to install a currently supported version of Receiver for Windows on the system (version 4.4 or later) then there is no need to perform these manual steps or run the clean-up utility. As per article CTX136410, Receiver for Windows 4.4 and later no longer require the separate Clean-Up Utility before installing or upgrading over a previously installed version of Receiver for Windows.

    Receiver Clean-Up Utility

    After uninstalling Receiver and restarting the system, the following steps guide to remove any unnecessary files manually that might have been left on the client system.

    It is important to remember that certain items mentioned in the following section might not exist on your system depending on the Receiver package used for the installation and how the package was deployed, for example per-machine against per-user installation.
    More information on this is available in the Receiver and Plug-ins section of the Citrix eDocs for your version.

    Uninstall Citrix Workspace 1812

    Following are the steps for cleaning up the file system:

    1. On the system in use, show all hidden system files and folders (Explorer’s Tools > Folder Options menu item).

    2. In the %userprofile%AppData folder

      • Delete the ICAClient folder if it exists.

      • If the Program Neighborhood Agent was present on the system, the following folder might also exist and should be deleted:
        CitrixPNAgent

      • For more recent Citrix Receiver releases, remove the following folders in AppData if they exist:

        • CitrixReceiver
        • CitrixAuthManager
        • CitrixSelfService
      • On Windows 7, the files and folders mentioned in the preceding must be deleted in both of the following locations:

        • AppDataLocal
        • AppDataRoaming
    3. Repeat everything mentioned in preceding Step 2 for the C:UsersDefault folder as well (C:Documents and SettingsDefault User on Windows XP).

    4. If they exist, ensure the following folders are removed from the directory in which the Receiver was installed. For example, the default install directory is %programfiles%Citrix (%programfiles(x86)%Citrix on 64-bit systems).

      • %programfiles%CitrixICA Client
      • %programfiles%CitrixAuthManager
      • %programfiles%CitrixSelfServicePlugin

    Complete the following steps to clean up the system registry:
    Caution! Refer to the Disclaimer at the end of this article before using Registry Editor.

    1. Using Registry Editor, navigate to the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT key and delete the following keys if they exist:

      • Citrix.ICAClient* (delete all instances that exist – such as Citrix.ICAClient.2 or Citrix.ICAClient.2.1)
      • Citrix.ICAClientProp* (delete all instances – such as Citrix.ICAClientProp.2 or Citrix.ICAClientProp.2.1 might exist)
      • ica
      • In the CLSID key, delete any keys whose names begin with 238F
      • InstallerUpgradeCodes9B123F490B54521479D0EDD389BCACC1
      • MimeDatabaseContent Typeapplication/x-ica
      • Wfica
      • WinFrameICA
      • ICA Client
    2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER and delete the following in SOFTWARECitrix if they exist:
      • ICA Client
      • PNAgent
      • Dazzle
      • PrinterProperties
      • Receiver
      • XenDesktopDesktopViewer
    3. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARE and delete the following keys if they exist (these keys are located in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432Node on 64-bit systems):

      • CitrixAuthManager
      • CitrixCitrixCAB
      • CitrixDazzle
      • CitrixICA Client
      • CitrixReceiverInside
      • CitrixPNAgent
      • CitrixPluginPackagesXenAppSuite
      • CitrixXenDesktopDesktopViewer
      • In CitrixInstall, delete the following keys if they exist:
        • {94F321B9-45B0-4125-970D-DE3D98CBCA1C}
        • ICA Client
        • PNAgent
        • DesktopViewer
        • ReceiverInsideForOnline
        • MUI
      • Depending on the Receiver package installed, delete one of the following keys in MicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionUninstall if they exist:
        • CitrixOnlinePluginFull
        • CitrixOnlinePluginPackWeb
    4. After uninstalling the Receiver software, any custom Receiver-side registry keys that icaclient.adm created remain in the registry as well. If you reinstall Receiver, these policies might be enforced possibly causing unexpected behavior. If you want to remove these customizations as well, delete the following ICA Client keys:

      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwarePoliciesCitrixICA Client
      • HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwarePoliciesCitrixICA Client
      • On 64-bit systems, ensure that the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareWow6432NodePoliciesCitrixICA Client key does not exist either.
    5. For each user’s registry hive in HKEY_USERS, delete the following keys in SOFTWARECitrix if they exist (example HKEY_USERSS-1-5-18SoftwareCitrix):

      • ICA Client
      • Dazzle
      • Receiver
      • PrinterProperties
      • PNAgent
      • Program Neighborhood Agent
    6. Repeat everything in Step 5 in the key: HKEY_USERS.DEFAULTSoftwareCitrix
