On iTunes with the MAC Mini the only thing that shows up is the track number and song title under the name field all the other information is totally missing. However with Foobar 2000 on my Gateway PC laptop everything shows including the album artwork picture, artist, album title, genre, and even my personal comments.

This might be automatable with GUI Scripting but it would be oogly.

What about the Re-Embed iTunes Artwork v2 script? Does running that trigger the right behavior?

No, I tried that and it did nothing.

I suspect it has to do with whether you previously embedded the artwork or not.

Album Artwork Folder Itunes

Here's a simple script that will delete and then re-add the artwork back to the selected tracks. I'm not sure if this fixes your problem but give it a try. Of course you can always add more features to the script but this shows the basics. Good luck!

As Kirk pointed out above, embedding the artwork, as this script does, has no affect on the issue at hand.

The best I can figure out is that iTunes is simply losing track of where the artwork is in the files. For my movies and TV shows, the artwork was there. For some music, however, it wasn't there at all, and that's very odd.

Thanks for letting me know this technique doesn't work. I didn't check out the scripts on your website, so I didn't know the techniques they used. I just wrote this myself trying to be helpful. If I think of something else I'll post it.

Maybe my problem is different, but Doug's Re-Embed Artwork v1.1 restores the artwork for me.
In my case - if I check 'get info' on a track missing its artwork: the artwork tab is empty.

I found that quitting iTunes, and renaming/removing the album artwork folder in the iTunes library made iTunes rebuild the album covers successfully.

Didn't do anything here except making iTunes to lose every bit of artwork left.
I'm really fed up with this. I have copied&pasted artwork to albums and titles and whatnot over years and have about 30 GB of music carefully organized with everything and iTunes just doesn't care a bit. I think I have never seen any music player that ignores more of my artwork than iTunes 11, honestly.
Now with the cover art display on the bottom of the sidebar gone away I'm always struggling to find a way to even manually paste/drag a cover. What kind of madness is this?
God. Write an app that supports Google and Amazon and iTunes and syncs with both iOS and Android and you'll get stinking rich. Now with Apple going down the drain there's no real competitor left. Just do it.

Well then hopefully you renamed. :)
The album artwork folder is a cache. Album artwork is actually stored in each file, so maybe you have a different problem.

For GUI based tag editing try tagalicious…
http://thelittleappfactory.com/tagalicious/
or maybe TuneUp (even though I hate that app!)
I'm sure there are a ton of other MP3/ MP4 tagging, artwork & metadata apps for Mac if you are willing to search… Jaikoz, MusicBrainz Picard, SongGenie 2, CoverScout 3, MetaX/ MetaZ (for movies & TV).
If you are a command line script junkie look at…
mp4v2

eyeD3
http://eyed3.nicfit.net/
id3tool
http://nekohako.xware.cx/id3tool/
They can read tags & export/ embed artwork from scripts.
Don't forget to try the insane 'Batch Rip Actions for Automator' if you are handling TV or movies.

There is also a metric crapton of information about the iTunes 'custom podcast tags' that need to be added to make podcasts stay in one list. TLDR: use http://www.mp3tag.de/en/ in Windows to apply the tags.

Why Apple can't add these podcast specific tags as editable in iTunes is a mystery to me.

Does anyone know why this happens:
1) Subscribe to a podcast like 60 minutes
2) Listen to podcasts
3) Delete podcasts
4) Update subscription
In the above scenario, the artwork for the podcasts goes away, and can only be added back manually. This worked the same in v10, so it's not a V11 problem...

Why Apple can't add these podcast specific tags as editable in iTunes is a mystery to me.
Apple doesn't want us to have user-definable metadata (a.k.a. tags, facets, whatever). Remember SpotMeta in 10.4? A laudable attempt, but dead in 10.5. There was another attempt, but it has been criticised and/or turned down by several wellknown developers.

SpotMeta was allowing users to define tags and metadata for use in Spotlight. It's a reasonable idea, but without a library of known and allowed tags it will get messy (e.g. should 'published' be a boolean or a date).
The ID3 tags that iTunes uses to organise Podcasts are custom tags created by iTunes. Other editors generally don't have support for them because they are iTunes specific. I'd expect Applescript to have write access to these so that fractured podcasts can be fixed, but even that isn't supported.
When sites change feed addresses or people use tools like iVolume podcast feeds to break in horrible ways.
Metadata is a 'first world problem', but Apple have a reputation for getting things right, they keep falling short IMO.

You can't expect it to look like iTunes10 that way. It just doesn't look the same and in addition it doesn't have cover view. But there is nothing similar between iTunes 10 and iTunes 11.

This script works if there is only one image file in the Album folder..

I believe it's a reported bug now. Walt Mossberg posted in his review of the new iTunes that Apple has acknowledged this and promised a fix in the next minor update. This along with bringing back 'Show Duplicates' feature.

Album art exchange

Last week I update my iPod software and move iTunes songs to it, some albums now show the incorrect artwork. How to fix incorrect album artwork on ipod? In fact, the easy way is to just delete all songs on iPod (iOS device, such as iPhone 4s) and sync them again. And I ever prefer to download free songs from resource websites.
